A simple kitchen kadha for cool mornings and rainy evenings. Dry ginger flakes bring a clear ginger flavour, tulsi adds its familiar aroma, and honey rounds the cup.
What You Need
- 3 to 4 Dry Ginger Flakes
- A small pinch of Tulsi powder or 6 to 7 dried tulsi leaves
- 1 teaspoon honey, or to taste
- 1 cup water
Method
Add the dry ginger flakes and tulsi to water. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for 5 minutes. Strain into a cup. Let it cool slightly, then add honey to taste.
Nani's note: Add the honey after the drink has cooled to a comfortable temperature. It keeps the flavour gentle and balanced.
Why These Ingredients Belong Together
Dry ginger gives the cup its warm spice. Tulsi adds a peppery, aromatic note. Honey softens the edges. Three familiar ingredients, prepared simply.
When to make it: On a cool morning, during the monsoon, or whenever you want a warm kitchen drink.
